Long-distance move from Carmichael, CA to Lewiston, ID

Don’t Use This Company

So I went through Budget for my moms move from CA to ID. Budget was amazing and this fiasco is not their fault. First way picked up moms stuff 9/9/23. I had measured her buffet perfectly and they tried to tell me I measured it wrong and wanted $300 dollars more. Oh hell no it stays here. He goes out and makes a call and comes back and says we will take it. Moms stuff was supposed to be in ID 9/19. As of today 9/26/23 it’s still not there. First it was truck cancelled, then they can’t find a truck, then they find a truck and it breaks down as they go down the road. When moms stuff was not in ID on the 19th I called these a holes, that’s when I found out the truck canceled. They didn’t call me. I then call budget. Budget had no clue moms stuff hadn’t been delivered until I told them. At this point I am about to get a U-Haul get moms stuff and take it myself. No telling what shape moms things are in being loaded and unloaded so many times. Budget is working hard to get a solution. I don’t blame them at all. But budget please don’t ever use this company again, they will give your company a bad name. I had a bad feeling about using a moving company after what happened to my sister using Roadrunner. Don’t use them either. On a positive note they owe mom $30 a day for every day they are out of the delivery window. $30 starting 9/19 do the math.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Marion was the best!!

The move couldn't have gone any better. The movers were polite and cooperative throughout the entire move. They were all very nice guys and they arrived on time and made sure to stick to the schedule. They seemed to be very conscious of the time it took them to get the job done and also about keeping my belongings safe and secure during the move.

My main guy Marion was just the absolute best through the whole move. But I have to be frank everyone was just great!!

Long-distance move from Bellingham, WA to Las Cruces, NM

How do you spell Disaster?

This is a story about my moving experience with First Way Movers out of Woodland Hills CA. I share this so you will be wary and not experience what I did. First Way Movers were contracted to do my move from Bellingham WA to Las Cruces with interim storage for a month in the LA Area.

The initial crew who loaded my goods, seemed very professional and took considerable time to carefully wrap my non-boxed goods. All of my boxed goods were well packed.

Goods were delayed in storage and finally delivered Dec 12th. I was absolutely shocked and disheartened to see the condition of my boxes. When they brought up my very expensive orthopedic office chair, the back was broken (irreparably) and missing casters. My almost new vacuum had the attachment broken off also irreparable. A small wood table in excellent condition had a big gouge.

I contacted First Way Movers and they told me to file a claim with their supposed insurance company. I did, it was delayed, and finally they offered me $.60 on the dollar based on weight which was worth $84!! The chair alone, no longer made, was worth over $1,000.

At this juncture, I expect to receive nothing more for all of the damage. Frankly it looked like my goods had been thrown around in the storage facility. I'm filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General of CA, and writing on all possible social media sights and YELP.

I'd NEVER recommend this company. Just wanted you to be aware. Thanks for reading! #firstwaymovers.com.

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Chicago, IL

HORRIBLE moving company.

One word for this so called "Moving Company".. SHADY! It felt as if I had to follow up on everything myself. The movers were fast and did a great job. Here's where everything hit the fan. When the movers arrived at my destination, HALF of my things were MISSING! The driver said he has no clue where my things are because this was all that was left on his truck. This company is completely unorganized and completely careless. The "manager" expressed no sympathy for the matter. I kept calling to check to see if they were able to locate my things and 3 out of 5 missing boxes were delivered to the wrong location. (In another state!) luckily the lady was nice enough to work with them to have fedex ship it to me. The other boxes are completely lost. I paid almost 2000 dollars to trust this company with my things to get it from point A to point B. Well that didn't happen. Now I have to file a claim for my missing items, and get this.. they will only pay .60 cents per lb! Sales representative didn't explain to me my options for insurance, he only stated that it was already included. Anyway, I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. It is not worth the risk. Your things will go missing and it is not promised that the person who received your things by mistake would be nice enough to return it. You have been warned. Should have went with a uhaul and drive my things to my destination myself. Same amount of hassle for the same amount of money. Better security that all your things will be there. Oh and despite their good reviews on all these other movers websites, the reviews can't be trusted. BBB will be hearing from this highly unsatisfied customer.

Long-distance move from Nevada to Tennessee

Wonderful people!

Wonderful people! I was absolutely thrilled with the service they gave. The office staff was nice and helpful. Marion was super nice and was able to answer all my questions (or find out the answer and get back to me very quickly in a couple of instances). He was able to provide me with some of their boxes for free so I didn't have to buy too many boxes. The movers were friendly and eager to please. While they unloaded they always asked me where I wanted something and never just dropped things wherever. They even let me peek into boxes that I forgot to label so that they could put the boxes in the right place. That helped me so much because I had back surgery last month and would not be able to move the boxes between rooms myself. I will use them again without a doubt when I need to move next year. Wonderful job all around!

Long-distance move from California to Alabama

Our First Move!!

When we moved from California to Alabama we knew we would need help. I spent weeks researching moving companies. I got email quotes and quotes over the phone for weeks. The guys at First Way had the best rate and more importantly service. But I was worried about that old saying that you get what you pay for. Boy was I wrong. They did a fantastic job. They took care of our entire household. They loaded up everything. My husband and I didn't have to do much. They did a great job. The man that was our rep Bill called a few weeks later just to check on us. They are a very nice company with very nice people.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Don't waste your time!

Less than 24 hours prior to the move, I called to confirm acceptable methods of payment only to be informed that my belongs were not going to be on a dedicated truck that I was sold (and had a very lengthy conversation with Mike (sales rep prior to contracting)). BUT for 3K more, I could have a dedicated truck otherwise all my belongings would be stored and then placed on a transport truck for delivery.

This is text book "bait and switch". They had us right where they wanted us and left us with no choice. Pay up or shut up. Today is a Friday and the pick up date was tomorrow (Sat). I am not comfortable having this company handle my belongings AND Mike (not the sales rep) was more focused with the reviews I would leave vs them making good with what I was sold. He even went insofar as to remind me that I would have to pay more if I exceeded the amount of cubic feet I contracted for. Ah, OK. I'm now forced to make last minute arrangements for a 2400+ mile move. I was advised my deposit of $1625 would be refunded asap as they "don't need the money". We shall see.

Nice!

Long-distance move from San Diego, CA to Longmont, CO

3rd party involved in moving my belongings.

June 26th, after getting dozens of Offers on internet---I contacted Liberty Bell Moving group..which turned out to be in FL not CA..and was a BROKER---found out After I paid deposit--to take my belongings from storage unit in San Diego back to Longmont CO. My grandson and I drove rental truck down there, He and I unloaded..no broken boxes and furniture all in tack--until I could find a Sec 8 apt. 3 wks unable to, had to come back. Liberty Bell assured me they had the Best driver, who would take great care of my belongings. Assuring me ALSO--their BID was the Total amount!! In motel with spotty internet, I Tried to read all the FINE Print. 2 days before scheduled pickup, driver calls asking if could pick up day early? Leaving me unable to repack and secure all the boxes--he tells me to "sit back and relax--that was what they would do." Oh Yes--to chg Even More! Next day my NIGHTMARE BEGINS!! Immediately--Not going in to unit---DEMANDS more money, saying weight was more than Bid!! Tried to cancel, both he and Liberty Bell Threatened me, said can't cancel, wouldn't get deposit back etc---$250 more. Then shows me-- AFTER all plastic wrapped--he says--my Broken $395 Sauder Desk! What I saw was desk all intact----except for bent end. Not until all loaded did I see paper work and Company called Cheetah Movers-NOT Liberty Bell! He told me had another pickup going to CO and then my belongings would be in storage unit in Denver in 2 Days! Asking if grandson and I could get truck and pickup there to save $$--he said Yes, could work it out!! He NEVER left CA!! Taking 2 wks to find new apt in CO..call Cheetah-- who then demands EVEN More $$ in Cash! 2 more wks no furniture or belongings in apt. Finally contacted District Aty office..HAD to Pay what was on Cheetah's papers-even tho was even Higher!! I had signed under duress. Then Cheetah tell me didn't have to bring for 20 More Days!! DA calls on Wed..delivery Sat. Get call from driver-- did I want him to bring the BROKEN-- in Pieces--my desk? Hard to understand his call I said- Yes! Sat AM get call..in Denver--delivery has to be in CASH--Not Cashiers that I had or no delivery. Got cash. NOT KNOWING these were Not Cheetah Movers--I said No $ Until everything in apt. No Deal. He calls Cheetah--they converse in Spanish-- says to dump my stuff in storage unit and leave. Then wants another $50!! Liberty, who gave me last quote, said they would pay it. Unloading--boxes crushed..BRAND NEW never sat on Couch --torn in 2 Places, and my desk in FOUR BROKEN Pieces!! Not ONE of my pieces of furniture didn't have Scratches, dents or Broken!! These movers..said Cheetah Hired them!! They unloaded..I marked on sheets..Missing boxes, and other items!!
So don't know if from these movers or Cheetah---Are responsible!! Although these guys dented and scraped new apt walls, door and further damaged my tv entertainment center--when one put tv back in. Saw that. Driver did seem more concerned, making sure I notated the damage and missing things.
Now begins the fight to get bids and furniture fixed-- if Ever!! And my missing things. Contacted their Insurance--they telling what I HAVE TO DO. Getting some bids-- $250 alone for couch!

Will NEVER ever Hire any Mover again . Hard Lesson to learn at 68.

Local move within Florida

Scammers & Theives.

I used this company when I moved from California to Florida. They delayed our delivery with multiple dates and finally delivered. When I received my boxes they appeared to have water damage making it difficult to assess if any boxes have been opened and tampered with. Once I unpacked I realized there were multiple things stolen from my boxes. I lost family heirlooms and very important items. I called and left multiple messages with no call back. This company is unreliable, disrespectful, and carry no accountability for themselves or their workers. If you find them on Facebook you will see the other people who have fallen victim to these movers. Do not use these movers, I would strongly recommend doing your research. I wish I did!

Long-distance move from Bakersfield, CA to Salem, SD

Trying to get double paid

I used Budget Van Lines, which is actually a broker, and they had First Way Movers move my stuff from my storage unit in California to 1 bedroom apartment in South Dakota.

I paid up front, but the company apparently didn’t tell the driver who was trying to get more money from me after delivering my stuff.
